Jaya TV

Charulatha Mani is presenting a programme every week, starting from 2nd May, on Jaya TV titled 'Isai Payanam', as part of the Kaalai Malar (breakfast show), a segment on music. In this programme, she takes up one raga every week, and outlines its salient features, mentions and demonstrates the popular Carnatic compositions in this raga. She also touches upon how this raga is handled in Cinema Music over the years and sings snatches of some of the cine songs based on the raga. Through this programme people can easily relate their favourite film numbers to familiar Carnatic Ragas, and learn a lot about ragas and their flavours in a concise way. This way they would be able to appreciate Classical Music as well as film music more.
