"Isai Payanam" Concert Schedule
Charulatha Mani, is a popular young Carnatic vocalist. Gifted with a mellifluous, captivating voice, and abundant musical talent, her performances are a connoisseur's delight. Her music is marked by a deep insight into raga-bhava, sincerity in approach and total involvement in the aesthetic beauties of Carnatic music.
Charulatha Mani is the disciple of Sangita Kala Acharya Sri V. Subrahmanyam, a senior disciple of the great doyen Sangita Kalanidhi Semmangudi Sri Srinivasier. Charulatha Mani started her training in music under her mother Smt. Hemalatha Mani, a Veena Artiste and later came under the tutelege of Sandhyavandanam Shri S. Poorna Pragna Rao, son of Sangita Kala Acharya Sandhyavandanam Shri Srinivasa Rao. She has also schooled under veteran Sangita Kala Acharya Sri Calcutta K.S. Krishnamurthy.
Charulatha Mani has over ten years of concert experience, and has performed in all major sabhas in Chennai and all over India. She has toured Singapore, the United States, and Europe. Many awards and accolades have come her way, including the prestigious ‘Yuva Kala Bharathi’ title from Bharat Kalachar in 2005. Other awards include ‘Best Young Vocalist’ awards from Narada Gana Sabha (2003), Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha (2003), SAFE (2002), and ‘Ragam Tanam Pallavi’ Award from Sri Krishna Gana Sabha (2002).
A graded artiste of All India Radio, Chennai, Charulatha’s frequent radio broadcasts and television appearances have made her very popular among music lovers worldwide. She is currently presenting Isai Payanam on Jaya TV, which deals with various ragas each week.
Charulatha is the recipient of Scholarships from the Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu for performing and advanced learning of music.
A graduate in Mechanical Engineering from Anna University, Chennai, her passion for music led her into becoming a full-time music professional. Charulatha holds a Masters degree in Music from the University of Madras.
